Well from the past five years I have heard the statement so many times, that now when someone says it to me...I feel pity for the person.
So..If I talk in English to a new person...and then later if I tell him/her dat I am from Bihar...all they can think of saying is -
Ohhh...But you don't have the Bihari accent...
or
Ohh...But you don't speak like a Bihari..!!!
Now...please give me a break.. Am I supposed to take that as a compliment..!?!
Well..while growing up in Bihar..all the people I have seen...be it my parents...my relatives...my school teachers...my friends...had the same accent as mine or even better...So what should I consider as the "Bihari" accent!!
I am fed up by how people tend to generalize everything..Ok..I admit that some people in Bihar have a particular accent...so does Punjabi's..or South Indian's or Delhite's ...But when you try to give me a compliment by saying that you are not like a Bihari...itz too much..!!
People should stop converting the "Some people" to "All people"... In one of my Logic class, I remember learning that even if something is true of 99% of population... still u can't call it ALL...it will still be SOME!!!
